Herbal Medicine farming

There is no doubt that the time to come will be for herbal products.  Due to the increasing demand for herbal products in the country and the world, farmers in different regions of the country are turning towards medicinal and herbal products in addition to traditional farming. Agricultural scientists say that taking only one type of crop in the field affects the fertility of the soil. In such a situation, farmers are advised to diversify the crop. After the wheat and paddy fields are empty, if the farmers cultivate medicinal plants in them, then it will be very beneficial for them. The next time he grows paddy and wheat in it, his yield will be higher. Most of the farmers sow wheat, rice, maize, jowar, bajra, sugarcane, kapal, mustard, groundnut, etc. in the fields.

Whereas in medicinal crops Sarpagandha, Ashwagandha, Bramhi, Kalmegh, Kaunch, Satavari, Tulsi, Aloe Vera, Vach, Artemisia, Lemongrass, Akarkara, Drumstick, farmers get more income in one hectare by cultivating medicinal plants.

The roots of the Akarkara plant are used in making Ayurvedic medicine. Its seeds and stalks are in demand. From making toothpaste, it is used in the manufacture of painkillers and oils.

Flaxseed (Alsi)

Alsi, Flax seed

Flaxseed (alsi) is the second important crop among oilseed crops. In terms of production of flaxseeds in the world, our country has the third place, while Canada is in the first place and China is in the second place. About 20 percent of the total production of flaxseed is used in the form of edible oil and the remaining 80 percent for industrial use. Therefore, seed production depends on the plant part of insects and on fiber and oil.

Sowing of flaxseed is 20 to 25 kg. Per hectare should be done. Row to row distance should be kept 30 cm and plant distance should be 5 to 7 cm. The seed should be sown in the soil at a depth of 2 to 3 cm. sowing should be done in the first fortnight of October in irrigated areas and first fortnight of November in irrigated areas. It is necessary to pat the field by running harrow 2 to 3 times so that the moisture can be preserved.Black heavy and loamy clay soil is suitable for flaxseed crop. More fertile soils are considered good.

There should be proper drainage system in the land. For proper germination of flaxseed, the temperature should be 25 to 30 Celsius and the temperature at the time of seed formation should be 15 to 20 Celsius. Flaxseed crop requires cool and dry climate.Nitrogen 50 kg should be applied to get good yield for unirrigated area. Phosphorus  40 kg. At the rate of potash and 100 kg in irrigated areas. Nitrogen and 75 kg. Use phosphorus at the rate of per hectare. In unirrigated condition, full amount of Nitrogen and Phosphorous and Potash and in irrigated condition half quantity of Nitrogen and full amount of Phosphorous at the time of sowing by the cowpea by 2-3 cm. Use below: In irrigated condition, apply remaining half quantity of nitrogen as top dressing after first irrigation.

For weed management, first weeding should be done 20 to 25 days after sowing and second weeding after 40 to 45 days. For good production of flaxseed, 2 to 3 irrigations are required at different critical stages, first irrigation should be done at the time of 4 to 6 leaves, second irrigation should be done at the time of branch bursting and third irrigation should be done at the time of flowering.

By using flaxseeds, the body gets 37 calories, which also contain essential nutrients like fiber, protein, copper and zinc. If your cholesterol remains high, then you should roast flaxseed and take one spoon in the morning and one spoon in the evening.
