MORINGA (SAHJAN)

 Moringa or sahjan is a very common and useful plant found in most countries like Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Philippines. Its botanical name is moringa orifera.

                           Its plant or tree is dark green leaves bearing white flowers and dark green phali known as drum sticks. The tree grows up to 4 to 6 mt in height and it grows in less water so it can grow everywhere

                       Its leaves contain calcium. Zinc potassium minerals Iron magnese copper. l is found in this plant. Every part of moringa from roots to flower fruit leaves all are useful.

             It is useful in arthritis and joint pain. useful in asthma. Useful in thyroid and diabetes. Its leaves help in reducing blood pressure because it contains potassium. It contains more than 40 antioxidants. 

           Helps with stomach problems like indigestion gas etc It is inflammatory antibacterial antifungal properties. So it is useful for all types of allergies, infections swellings.

                     Its leaves are used as a pain killer for headaches and body pain Its seeds are used for sleeping problems. It is also used in constipation. It is commonly known as drum sticks which are used in sambhar a well-known south Indian dish.

             Its flower soup is useful for digestion. Its leaves are used on burn wounds. RECEIPE OF APPLE MURABBA


 INGREDIENTS   

·         Apple 1 kg

·         Sugar 1 kg

·         Cloves 3- 4

·         Cardamom powder ½ tsp

·         Lemon juice 2 tbsp

·         Water 1 liter


METHOD  

To make apple murabba, first of all, wash the apples thoroughly. With the help of a peeler, peel off all these and remove the stalk, and put them in water so that blackness does not come on them. Put the water on the gas to heat up, and let the apples cook till they become soft, if the apples have become soft then take out the apples from the water. Put sugar in the same vessel which is left to boil the apple and make sugar syrup.

Cook apples by putting them in sugar syrup, and cook them till the syrup becomes thick like honey. Switch off the gas; let the apple remain in the syrup so that the sweetness of the syrup gets absorbed well inside the apple. Add lemon juice, and cardamom powder to the sugar syrup and mix it. Let the apple remain immersed in the syrup for 2 days, after 2 days the delicious apple marmalade is ready. The marmalade can be kept in the fridge and eaten comfortably for 1 month.
